For the second straight year two local personalities are taking to the Sobeys rooftop in Okotoks all for a good cause.

Community Events Coordinator Mark Doherty and The Eagle 100.9's own Jayme Hall will spend the entire weekend on the roof for the United Way in Okotoks.

Dorherty says he's excited to help out local organizations this weekend.

"We're hoping to create some great awareness of some of the agencies that it supports and at the same our goal is to raise $10,000 to support these agencies."

Doherty says with the United Way's support of many local groups he says fundraising for them was a no-brainer.

"That's why its a neat cause for me in particular," he says. "I feel like I'm supporting a number of agencies not just one in specific, there's a real need in the community for these agencies to be supported and particularly when there's tough economic times and money is a little tougher."

Doherty says the most important items he's bringing up to the roof are his guitar, his onesie and a radio in order to stay kept up with local news and to listen to the Blue Jays ALCS series this weekend.

He says he's learned a lot from last year's rooftop campout.

"The nights tend get a little cool, we hunker down and do what we have to do to stay warm but its a long weekend for us for sure but again its for such a great cause," he says. "We have fun up there I bring a guitar, we've got a crib board and we wave to everybody and thank them for coming in and supporting us."

There will be a barbeque Saturday to help cheer on Doherty and Hall during the afternoon and they won't be coming down until 4 p.m. on Sunday afternoon.
