Turner Valley Mayor Kelly Tuck

The Town of Turner Valley has received the decision from the Environmental Appeals Board of an appeal by two residents.

Roxanne Walsh and Julie Walker appealed amendments to the town's water reservoir licence.

Mayor Kelly Tuck says first indications are in the town's favour.

"The Town is in receipt of the board's decision, respecting the various appeals of the waterworks amending approvals," she says.  "The Town is pleased to report that the Board found the items and conditions in the amending, more than adequate to proper protection of our water for all of our ratepayers."

She says town administration and council need time to go over all of the decisions and recommendations contained in the 79-page report.

"I'd like to have an opportunity to go through the document, understand the document , ministerial orders, unless you're a lawyer, they're not made for laymen. So I think myself, administration and council just needs some time to be able to go through the document itself," she says.

Alberta Environment and Sustainable Resources had issued an amending approval to the Town of Turner Valley to build, operate and reclaim a waterworks system for the Town and to construct an infiltration gallery below the bank of the Sheep River.

Roxanne Walsh and Julie Walker appealed the decision to approve the order while the Town appealed the conditions involving water testing.

Mayor Tuck says they'll keep residents up to date through the media, the Town's web site and its facebook page.
