The Rowan House Women's Shelter's annual Hope and Healing Gala is coming up in less than a month

Community Relations Coordinator Ally Cramm says running their shelter is a costly proposition.

"Rowan House needs to raise about $800,000 a year to maintain all of our programs and services that aren't covered by the government and that is a lot of our community work in terms of our preventative education, our outreach programming and things like that," Cramm says. "So this event goes a long way to helping us reach that $800,000 goal."

She says the economy has meant that they remain very busy and the outreach program has been swamped. Cramm says they understand that it's not easy for the community to continue to give to the number of organizations that are so worthy but any support they get is much appreciated.

Unfortunately Rowan House has run into some issues with its web site, just as they move into the last couple of weeks of ticket sales for the gala.

"If people go to our web site rowanhouse.ca, they'll notice that it is under construction right now so they can click the link that is on our under construction page to go to our "eventbrite" page which is where they can purchase tickets or they can give us a call at 403-652-3316 and we'll help direct them," Cramm says.

The event goes April 29 at Lynnwood Ranch.
