A case of COVID-19 has cropped up at Highwood High School in High River.

School officials say they found out about the case Wednesday, November 25, and say the individual involved was last in the school Thursday, November 19.

Public Health, along with the Foothills School Division continue to investigate and inform individuals who were close contacts.

The school remains open as the Division works closely with Alberta Health Services to ensure necessary measures are in place to protect all students and staff.

Another case was confirmed among the staff at Mr. Mike's in High River prompting owners to close down for the day Wednesday, November 25.

In a Facebook post, owner Mike Bliss, says the staff member last worked on Sunday, November 22 and they've asked other staff in close contact to get tested.

In the meantime he says they've worked closely with AHS and shut down Wednesday to deep clean the building.

As of Wednesday's update from the Province, High River has 18 active cases of COVID-19.
