It's been 40 years since Terry Fox ran to raise money for cancer research, and though he wasn't able to complete his run, Canadians have stepped up to continue it every year.

The organizer of this year's High River event, Brenda McCredie says she's hoping locals will raise a good amount of cash.

"Here we raised about $3,000 (last year) so I set a goal of $2,500 this year just with the circumstances, but we'll take anything," she says.

The event is going virtual this year which means you can participate anywhere and in any way you wish.

"They'd still like you to do it on September 20, but however you'd like and where ever you'd like," McCredie says. "We need people to register, I went online and there are only four people registered so far, so we need people to register online."

She says T-shirts will be available but she's still working out exactly how that'll be done.
