Youngsters in and around High River's Spitzee school make good use of the playground equipment the school has to offer.

But after years of use, including sitting in flood waters in 2013, it's in need of repair or replacement.

Vice Principal Bill Holmes Jr. is calling on school's alumni to help raise a pretty big chunk of cash.

"We know that we've got lots of people, local people, business people in town, parents, grandparents, we've even had a Prime Minister who's gone to school here," he says, referring to former PM Joe Clark.

They're looking to bring in about $240,000 and to apply for matching grants in about the middle of January.
