High River council's appointed three volunteer community leaders for Canada's 150th Anniversary of Confederation.

Courtney Berlinguette, Tammy Beach and Duncan Scott are heading up plans for the town.

Scott says they've decided on a legacy project, paving the Happy Trails on the berm from 8 Avenue near the entrance to Beachwood Estates to 12 Avenue.

"It is already commonly referred to as one of the jewels in the community, behind George Lane Park it probably, generally ranks number two, it's substantially competed, this is one portion that still just needs to be finished off," Scott says. "There is no particular availability of any other funding for this, the Town has already tried and not been successful, it's large enough to be impactful but small enough to be doable with-in the time frame and it should endure for the next 30 to 50 year's."

He says they're looking for a couple of lead sponsors who can pick up a good chunk of the approximately $100,000 price tag.

Scott told council if they can find one or two who can get half way and then a couple others to pick up another quarter, he's confident the rest could be raised in the community.
