High River RCMP had a chase on their hands early Wednesday morning.

It started around 3:30 when they were called to a suspicious persons or vehicle complaint.

High River RCMP Sergeant Brent Hawker says the officers saw the car they were after speeding down 12th Avenue.

They gave chase and pulled the vehicle over on 88th Street just South of Town.

That's when Hawker says things got kicked up a notch.

"At one point when the member was at the window of the vehicle speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the vehicle fled the scene. The vehicle traveled south on 88th Avenue. At one point as it crossed a controlled intersection, the driver lost control of the vehicle. That caused the vehicle to leave the roadway into the east ditch and the vehicle flipped several times, resulting in extensive damage to the car."

Hawker says the 27 year old driver was taken to High River Hospital with undetermined injuries.

He says no charges have been laid yet, but they are being contemplated.
