It took a few days, but the High River Hospital finally has their New Years baby.

A couple from Okotoks, Megha Karthikkumar and her husband Karthikkumar Varabhan, brought a 6.6 pound baby boy into the world on Friday, January 5.

Megha says the staff at the hospital were great.

"All the midwives and the nurses were so friendly. They were nice. I'm glad I delivered here."

It's the second child for the couple as they already have a daughter.

No name for the baby yet, as they're working on that with relatives back in India.
