A successful showing of local talent at this year's Okotoks Buskersfest.

Musicians and entertainers alike were able to display their talents with a cash prize and an opportunity to perform again in front of an even bigger local crowd .

The judges had a tough decision to make in choosing a winning busker but Eric Hess took home the title with his singing and guitar playing.

Hess says he was speechless when he won.

"Amazing," he says. " I never expected to win this at all, I've never been here before and I've never busked before , its just an amazing feeling and great atmosphere today."

Hess adds that Buskersfest was a new way to display his talent.

"I've played in public, I've done some stampede breakfasts, school talent shows," he says. " But I've never busked on the street before its really fun."

Hess who's been playing guitar as far as he can remember says his musical journey has been something else.

"I had a little plastic guitar with stupid little plastic strings and I just strummed around with that," he says. "Just developed into a guitar with some softer strings then I got a real guitar then the one I played with today, I just loved it."

Hess will perform at the Taste of Okotoks and Chili-Fest later on in the summer. Local juggler Jason Melynchuk finished 2nd and Marie was 3rd.
