Get ready for more snow in the forecast starting Friday night.

Environment Canada's forecast currently has around 10-15 centimetres and below average temperatures coming to the Foothills.

Meteorologist Kirk Thorneby says the simplified forecast is periods of snow over the next five to seven days.

"There's a system on the BC coast which is pushing a lot of moisture across the rockies so that's going to be an area prolonged snow across Southern Alberta," he says. "It kind of looks like to two to four centimetres a day for the next few days."

As for the rest of the month Thorneby expects temperatures to return to their seasonal range.

"The temperatures we're seeing right now are a little bit below normal but they only look like they're only going to stick around till mid next week so another seven or more days then we start to warm-up to more near normal or above normal temperatures for the month of February."

Thorneby says overnight lows will be hovering in the low minuses so if you're going outside in the evening you better bundle up.

"Temperatures near minus 20 are definitely possible, it doesn't look like wind is going to be so much of an issue over the next few days just because the way the weather pattern is set-up but definitely overnight lows in around minus 20 is definitely possible with some snow throughout the period."
