The atmosphere in Okotoks Sobeys gained a slightly competitive edge Friday morning when the Okotoks Kraft Hockeyville crew partnered with the store for the Dash for Kraft relay race.

Five teams, made up by Okotoks Town Council, the Oilers Krafty Crew, Chicks-Ahoy, the Carol Faye team, and the Okotoks Oilers, were given clues for specific Kraft products they had to locate in the store. The team with the fastest time won.

Sheila Hughes, executive director at the Okotoks Food Bank, says the items the teams collected were donated to the food bank.

"What was amazing was Sobeys donated all the Kraft products that were found in the event," she says. "We have things like cheese, peanut butter, lots of side dishes, condiments... it was fantastic."

Hughes adds the support from the groups has been overwhelming.

"Sobeys is always just an amazing supporter of ours they're just incredible. Pretty much every event Kraft Hockeyville has put on all of the proceeds have come back to us with the winter carnival they put on, now this event... they're thinking about the community with every event they do."

The top three teams of the Dash for Kraft were the Carol Faye team (first), Chicks-Ahoy (second) and the Okotoks Oilers (third). The teams were given Sobeys gift cards which were also donated to the food bank.

Saturday at noon is the Mac N' Cheese Cook-off at the Pason Centennial Arena which will be followed by a free showing of the movie MVP: Most Valuable Primate at Okotoks Cinemas. Donations to the food bank will be accepted at the movie.
