Laughs and playful screams could be heard at Okotoks Junior High School today as the Grade 9 students took part in the annual water fight.

With hours before school is done and over for the summer, the students headed out to the back field with the teachers with hopes of getting them completely soaked, but not themselves.

Lee Kennedy losing the battle... Guess the Grade 9s weren't math or french fans?

Grade 9 student Abby says her goal is to still look good after the event is over.

"My goal is to not get so wet I look horrible," she says.

Some of the students had fun with the "looking good" part of the water fight by creating t-shirts for the day.

One group of girls made Thing 1, 2, 3 and 4 t-shirts after their favourite Dr. Seuss book The Cat In The Hat, while another group made shirts sporting the name of their hometowns.

Grade 9 teacher Lee Kennedy says the event is something they do every year and it's always a lot of fun.

"All the Grade 9s get to come out and participate in soaking each other, their teachers, as well as the principals and vice principals."

The consensus among the students was that vice principal Bill Holmes was one of the main targets, along with his other teachers.
