For 11 year old Landen Adams life has been anything but normal for him since being diagnosed with Dystonia. With the help of the foothills community, his family is hoping they'll be able to help him fight the rare neuro condition.

A charity golf tournament is set for Monday at D'Arcy Ranch in order to help raise funds for Landen to go to the US for special treatment.

His mother, Jen Dunstow says the family still has a long way to go for raising the amount of money needed to get there but hopes the tournament will help get them closer.

"The procedure itself is $100,000 US, so right now with our dollar we're looking at between 130 and 150 thousand Canadian," she says. "For us it's essential that he has this to give him the relief that he need to be a healthy and active kid."

Dystonia is condition where the brain sends messages to Landen's feet and it causes a spasm, and muscles go hard then soft, then hard then soft creating an excruciating amount of pain.

Dunstow says their family is getting closer to raising their goal.

"We're over $50,000 right now," she says. "Which we're really pleased with how far we come since starting this at the end of May but we're only a third of the way there right now."

The tournament has a handful of spots available and plenty of opportunities to help donate to Landen's cause.

Adam's mother says with Landen being an avid hockey player and fan, there was a call made out to his favourite NHL team and some of the players will be in attendance tomorrow.

"We have the Calgary Flames coming out to join Landen on the course for a a little bit so he's quite excited about that," Dunstow says. "This event we didn't expect it to be so successful with 84 golfers."
