Secret Santa Triples Donations to Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School.

some may have already heard about a North American initiative to give called "Giving Tuesday"

The first Tuesday after American Thanksgiving is considered to kick-start the holiday season and charities everywhere use #GivingTuesday as a way to kick-start their donations as well.

This year Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School is partaking to increase funding efforts for some projects and improvements to their facilities.

Lara Unsworth the Director of Communications and Marketing for S.T.S says they have an incredible opportunity to make a great impact.

"At Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School we're participating in the North American Giving Tuesday phenomenon and we've got a really incredible opportunity for our families to really make a big impact with their donations."  Unsworth says "so for that one day only every gift or donation made to the school towards our major campaign we're in right now will be tripled."

The secret Santa at S.T.S school has agreed to double any donations made throughout the year, Unsworth goes into detail saying "We've got an anonymous donor who has been generously doubling every gift made to the school this year by parents, and they have agreed on Giving Tuesday for one day only, they will be tripling all gifts" Unsworth says "If you give $50 it would be $150 all the way up to if you gave $25, 000 it would become $75,000."

The funds will stay within the school as S.T.S is going through some major infrastructure changes. Unsworth says they have three projects in mind.

"$24,000,000 will go to a new elementary school and arts centre which is currently under construction and will open next fall. We also have $1.5 Million ear-marked for scholarships and bursaries to prevent any financial barriers to great students coming to our school, and the third priority is $1.5 Million for teaching excellence, to really support our teachers and ensure they're always current."

Any one is able to make a donation at http://www.sts.ab.ca/Support on Giving Tuesday and the donation will be tripled.
