The community of Milo is celebrating its 85th Anniversary Sat. August 13, and Sun. August 14 and on Saturday they're holding their first ever snowmobile grass races.

Organizer Mike Morishita says, surprisingly, the machines aren't just wrecks no one cares about.

"It's not as bad as people think," he says. "Anyone, especially people, their first time, that have spent a lot of time on a new unit, some of these sleds are $20,000 and a lot of people are scared to do it until they realize it's not as hard on it as they think, we're not driving very far."

He says some of the machines can go a quarter mile in under ten seconds.

"You get guys that bring out their brand new units, I've done that, some guys bring out the oldest things they can find and then there's guys out there that completely rebuild their sled just to do this," Morishita says.

The races go Saturday at 1 p.m. and there's no charge.
