One of the largest health and wellness fundraisers in the Foothills is less than a month away.

The Sheep River Health Trust will partner with the Eagle 100.9 for the annual Together We Make a Difference Radiothon that raises funds for local health and wellness initiatives.

The fundraiser will support It Takes a Village's Baby Sleep Safe program, the Foothills Country Hospice's Complimentary Care program, and the Rowan House Women's Emergency Shelter's Tech for Teens program.

Andrea Mitchell, Executive Director of the Sheep River Health Trust, says to help honour healthcare workers efforts to keep the Foothills safe, the remaining funds will go towards Alberta Health Services' projects in the community.

"There's always projects within our building. Black Diamond has a wish list always out at Oilfields Hospital and so does our Health and Wellness Centre. We want to make sure that we are able to support them in the next few months with urgent requests that come forward so that's why we really see Radiothon as being able to support our community healthcare workers keeping us as healthy as possible. We want to be there to support them doing that."

Mitchell adds it's important to prepare for what's to come.

"Those requests are coming more and more because we see the healthcare system is needing that support, and although we haven't seen a huge influx of patients through our buildings, the need is still there," she explains. "So, we really see that we should be able to support them through equipment, program, and services over the next few months. Everything is kind of shutdown at the Wellness Centre but those programs will start back up and they are going to need our support."

To stay within Alberta Health Service's guidelines, the event will be taking place in the parking lots at the Eagle 100.9.

The Radiothon is set for June 25 from 6:30 a.m.- 7 p.m.
