A little bit of a quiet week for the Okotoks Fire Department in this week's edition of the Fire Report.

Fire Services were on the scene to 12 calls last week.

Okotoks Fire Chief Ken ThevenotFire Chief Ken Thevenot says it was one of the quieter weeks call wise for the department.

"We had two alarm system activations, one gas leak, six medical responses one of those the first medical response," he says. "We helped EMS do one rescue gaining entry and then we attended to two motor vehicle accidents."

Thevenot says the gas line leak occurred southwest of Okotoks.

"A backhoe clipped a gas line so that created us a little bit of a problem there was no other incidents from it. We had ATCO on scene to contain it and fix the line then the road was opened up a short time later."

During the week the department focused on more training within the Town limits and Thevenot says they put their training house to good use on last time as they did a full burning simulation on 48 Street West off of Barpipe Road.

"We had a number of training sessions since May on it we did search patterns, self survival , ventilation practices so it was a very useful tool for us and plus it was close to town so our duty crew could attend as well."

Thevenot reminds residents as the ground is bare and a little dry with the warm temperatures sticking around for the next week and a half to safety disgard smoking materials as the risk of grassfires increases.
