Local artists are being promoted in public spaces thanks to the Okotoks Art Gallery's Art in the Hall program.

Displays in the Municipal Centre, Okotoks Public Library, Okotoks Recreation Centre, and soon to be Pason Centennial Arena, are kitted out with pieces from Foothills artists.

Katrina Lougheed, gallery specialist at the Okotoks Art Gallery, says it's important to support the arts throughout town.

"People don't always seek out art but they always enjoy seeing it so we try to go to places like the Rec Centre and Pason Arena where people probably aren't going to look for art but it's important to have art in your life and in buildings that you maybe wouldn't expect to see art," she explains. "We're just trying to bring art into people's lives where they may not expect it."

Lougheed says all pieces displayed can be purchased.

"Every piece is for sale, it will either have a sign up next to the display case with prices and our contact information or there will be an individual label on the wall right beside the piece with, again, the price and contact information for the art gallery."

Artists who are interested in having their work becone a part of the Art in the Hall program can contact the Okotoks Art Gallery at (403) 938-3204.
