Making sure the grounds around the schools are in good shape was a priority for the Foothills School Division this year.

Drew Chipman, Assistant Superintendent of Corporate Services, says the Divison realized they wanted to make sure the facilities were in better shape.

"We just haven't had a big grounds crew," said Chipman. "Like you see a lot of municipalities have. So this last year we added a couple of individuals onto our gerunds crew and I think they have down a great job making sure our grounds are right up to snuff."

And he added it was easier to do some extra work because the grass didn't need to be mowed as much, due to the lack of rain.

"We hired a new individual to be our lead hand for grounds, Sean, and he has done a great job. What they have done is they took a look at what the needs are at each school."

They made sure the playgrounds were in top shape.

The grounds were looking so good the outgoing trustees insisted a letter be sent to the crew thanking them for their efforts.
