The Foothills School Division is expressing concerns over the approach off Highway 552 to Heritage Heights School.

The approach currently deals with traffic congestion during peak school hours as well as traffic from Scott Seaman Sports Rink as it's the only access point onto the highway.

The back-up is predicted to get worse once Christ The Redeemer's new Davisburg school, St. Francis of Assisi Academy, is completed.

Drew Chipman, assistant superintendent of FSD, says the division is working on finding a solution.

"We're talking with the M.D. and hopefully we can jointly persuade the province and Alberta Transportation to consider another approach into that area to alleviate some of the buildup and some of the bottleneck that's currently occurring at that one exit and entrance onto the site," he says.

Chipman says there's also worry over the road's speed limit.

"Right now it's 80 km/h through that area and we certainly have some parents that have voiced concerns, and we have concerns."

Construction of St. Francis of Assisi Academy is expected to be completed by the end of the summer.
