It's all going to the dogs tomorrow at the Okotoks Dog Park.

Heaven Can Wait Animal Rescue, Okotoks Municipal Enforcement, and other community partners will be working together, to provide a fun day of pet education and freebies for all the puppers who come to play.

Peace Officer Wiebe from Okotoks Municipal Enforcement say they will be on site to answer questions, and provide Okotoks fur-parents with town specific bylaw information.

"So the event itself is on Friday, it's from 10:00 am, to 2:00 pm. Heaven Can Wait will be there, they're the ones that adopt out rescue dogs and that type of thing." Officer Wiebe adds "Okotoks Municipal Enforcement will be on site tomorrow as well with some of our practicum students and a senior officer providing education resources and answering questions."

Of course there will be goodies and freebies for owners and puppers alike to enjoy at the park as they socialize with others.

Officer Wiebe says it's important to educate residents on responsible dog ownership, and registering their animals.

"Here in town, we have around 4000 dogs that are registered right now with the Town.  The good thing is, if you have a tag on your dog and it does  happen to get out, we can take a look at the tag and if this is the first time the dog has gotten loose, we look up your info and bring it back to you and say good day, because the system just worked."

Registration fees go back into providing maintenance at the Okotoks Dog Park, and providing doggy-bag stations through out town.

Wiebe says it's relatively affordable and a painless experience, as it only costs $25 for a neutered dog to be registered.

If you can't make the event, all of the information can be found on the town's website.

"All of our By-Laws and responsible pet ownership laws can be found at okotoks.ca so people can go check that out."

Information on how to register your pets can also be found by clicking here.

The event gets underway at 10 AM at the Okotoks Dog Park, on Friday July 28th.
