Another 100 Women Who Care meeting has passed, meaning one local organization has received funds for their work in the Foothills.

The ladies met up last Thursday, February 2, to decide between the Foothills Special Needs Association for Parents and Siblings, Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies and the Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society.

Founder Karen Love says they are all wonderful groups but as always they had to narrow it down to one.

"So we picked Foothills SNAPS, they got the most votes from the ladies there...Kathy Thornhill, who gave the presentation for SNAPS, from what I hear gave a really good presentation and I think when presenters have got personal experience I think that has a big impact as well...I was actually home sick but I heard the presentations were all really good but the ladies decided to go with SNAPS."

Love says the work the local group does for our area really wowed the ladies of 100 Women Who Care.

"They deal with any families, any siblings with any family members who have any special needs whatsoever, and they basically support the families all the way from birth to even transitioning into post secondary and further on. They run some really good workshops for siblings and they just provide amazing support for families with any learning disabilities or physical disabilities."

With 48 members 100 women who care will be able to donate up to $4,800 to Foothills SNAPS but the good news doesn't end there.

Love says Adele's Baskets Over the Rainbow, the group that was picked for last quarters donation, paid a visit to the ladies at last week's meeting.

"Adele from 'Adele's Baskets Over the Rainbow' actually came in and told the ladies what she did with the money from the previous meeting. She's an agency that gives baskets to families who have a baby that has been diagnosed with down syndrome and she actually brought one of the baskets in to show, they are about $1,000 each and these families are getting it free of charge. So it's really nice to see where the money is going to and that's the advantage of 100 Women you know exactly where your $100 is going to."

If anyone is interested in joining 100 Women Who Care they can visit their webpage or Facebook page.

Their goal is to hit the 100 mark as soon as possible and their next meeting will be hosted at the Crystal Ridge Golf Club at 7 p.m. on May 4.
