The Foothills Salvation Army has put out a call to the community for volunteers to assist with their ongoing Kettle Campaign.

Lieutenant, Chad Cole, says they still have quite a few vacancies to fill for volunteers who can keep an eye on the kettle and ring the bell.

"The campaign got off to a great start, but now we're coming up to our final push. There's still quite a few vacancies that we need help with, people to man the kettles and be a bell ringer for a couple of hours," he said.

Cole says shortage of volunteers is something that comes up more often than not.

"Running low on volunteers is nothing new, and often, there's the best of intentions and people will schedule things, but life happens. Things come up and people get sick, it's that time of year. So, there's those last minute vacancies that come up that we're always looking for volunteers to fill," he said.

There are approximately 20 volunteers needed at Okotoks kettle locations at WalMart, Sobeys and Costco until the completion of the campaign on December 24th.

"If there's a choir out there that would like to join, we can make that happen and have some live music on site. Sometimes, parents will bring their kids dressed up and sing christmas carols, too, so it can be a family outing," said Cole.

Residents interested in volunteering can contact Katrina at 403-652-2195 or 306-361-2261.
