The Foothills Country Hospice will be putting on their finest western duds for their upcoming fundraiser.

The theme for this years gala is Wranglers and Rhinestones.

Dawn Elliott, executive director of the hospice, says there's a bit of history behind the theme.

"The reason we chose the theme Wranglers and Rhinestones this year is we wanted to celebrate and honour the founders of the hospice and back in the day when they were raising money to break ground that was the theme of the gala so we thought we'd bring that back and celebrate all of their hard work."

Elliott says each year the gala is their most significant event.

"This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we're tasked with raising a lot of money. We're funded partially by Alberta Health Services to the tune of 61% of our budget and we make up the remaining million dollars through various fundraising activities such as our gala."

A variety of sponsorship options are open for the gala with single tickets available to purchase for $150.

Wranglers and Rhinestones takes place at the Foothills Centennial Centre at 5:00 p.m. on Oct. 22.
