The Okotoks Food Bank received a boost from the fitness community.

The Fourth Annual Fitness Fundraiser, lead by local fitness instructor Tamara Boivin, took place at the Crescent Point Regional Field House on Dec. 30 and saw people take part in Zumba, Turbo Kick, Pound, and yoga/meditation classes with funds going to the Okotoks Food Bank.

Sheila Hughes, executive director of the Food Bank, says it was a record breaking year for the event.

"We received $897.25 in donations, which is a record, and 341 pounds of food so it was really nice, everybody was very generous and super supportive."

Hughes says instructors from other communities took part.

"Such a great crew that Tamara has that she brings together, wonderful instructors, they were from Okotoks, High River, and Calgary. Everybody came out with lots of energy, lots of laughs, and it was really fun to see."

According to Hughes, the Food Bank is in a good position this new year thanks to the generosity of the community over the Christmas season.
