The first ever Foothills Comic Con benefiting the Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society was a success.

The event featured artists, vendors, cosplay, a silent auction, as well as special guests at the Crescent Point Regional Field House.

Travis Sandor, lead organizer for the event, says comic cons first began in San Diego in the early '90s but that this one differs from others.

"This is the first fundraising comic con that I've ever heard of. All the proceeds we make from ticket sales, vendor registration, and artist registration all goes back to the Foothills Fetal Alcohol Society so we're in a little bit of a niche."

Sandor says he'd like to try to grow involvement from the region next year.

"There's definitely some things we're going to work on for sponsorships and such, we want to get more businesses involved and draw more people in, not just for us but for the MD of Foothills," he explains. "We all need to prosper from a big event like this because we all can."
