The Okotoks Fire Department was kept busy this last week by responding to 19 different calls.

This includes five alarm system activations, seven medical responses, four motor vehicle collisions, one odour investigation, one structure fire, and they assisted the High River Fire Department with the fire at the Bob Snodgrass Rec Plex.

Ken Thevenot, Okotoks fire chief, says the structure fire took place in Okotoks on Good Friday.

"Friday morning we had a fire come in at about 6:02 a.m., it was on Woodglen Place. Crews responded and on arrival found the home was full of smoke from floor to ceiling... crews entered and were on scene for quite some time."

Thevenot says the fire was problematic for crews and the Heritage Pointe Fire Department was called for assistance.

Thankfully, no one was home during the blaze.

"There was no home at the time, no injuries to firefighters or residents," says Thevenot.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
