A modest week of calls for the Okotoks Fire Department in this week's edition of the Fire Report.

Fire Services dealt with 20 different responses over the past seven days.

Fire Chief Ken Thevenot says they did respond to one fire call in that time.

"We had six alarm system activations, we had one fire we attended to and we had one investigation," he says. "We had seven medical responses, we had a mutual aid call we helped out with, one public service and three motor vehicle accidents."

As the weather thaws things out and re-freezes them again Thevenot says that can create some very slippery conditions around your home.

"This freezing and thawing is creeping around the house is showing the odd icy patch that develops black ice and you can't see it when it forms sometimes and it does make it a little bit slick."

Thevenot adds that you might want to check your vents to make sure they aren't plugged with developed ice over the winter and adds you might want to check-in on your furnace just to see how it's holding up after the cold spells that came through in December and January.

"We've had problems in the last couple of months with some high efficiency gas furnaces, if they're not perfectly level, some of these with the way they're installed they may not burn clean so it may create carbon monoxide."
