Less call volume for the Okotoks Fire Department this past week.

Ken Thevenot, Okotoks Fire Chief, says despite there being fewer responses, there was still variety to the calls.

"Okotoks Fire Services in the last week responded to 17 calls. A little bit lower than average, but making up those responses we had two alarm system activations, eight medical responses, one motor vehicle accident, one public service, three controlled burns we attended in the MD, and two odour investigations."

Thevenot says a part from their usual calls, they've also been trying to place a focus on free home inspections.

"We've had quite a few calls for home inspections so it's been really good in the last couple of weeks but the holiday season is coming and we want to try to get into as many homes as we can to ensure that everyone has a festive and happy season. We also want to make sure that all of our residents are using a carbon monoxide detector, that it is working properly, and that it is not out dated."

An appointment for a home inspection can be made by contacting the fire department at (403) 938-4066.

The department will also be hosting their monthly free car seat clinic at Fire Station No. 1 on Milligan Drive on Dec. 12 from 1- 4 p.m.
