The week between Christmas & New Year's wasn't as quiet as you might expect for Okotoks Fire Services.

Okotoks Fire Chief Ken Thevenot

The Fire Department responded to 17 different calls in this week's edition of the Fire Report.

Fire Chief Ken Thevenot says they spent plenty of time responding to accidents out on the highways.

"Four motor vehicle accidents, eight medical responses, we had four alarm systems activations, we also attended out to a controlled burn to check up on it," he says.

With the large amount of snow that has fallen since

"Just be mindful when you're driving to take extra caution to watch in behind some of those snow piles you might have some of the little pedestrians there that may come out from one of those piles or playing around them. So just take some extra caution leave yourself some extra time when there is extra snow piles out there as well."

"It does pile around the hydrants, we do check the hydrant locations prior to leaving the fire stations they're on our maps. But it would help us out if the snow if it's in your area or in your yard that you take a few minutes to get that snow away from that hydrant would save us some time."
