Members of the Okotoks Fire Department along with EMS and RCMP responded to a house fire around 10:00 p.m. on Monday night.

The blaze took place in the 150 block of Sheep River Cove.

According to Ken Thevenot, Okotoks Fire Chief, the blaze began in the home under construction and spread to the show home beside it.

"It was the one under construction and it was supplied by a propane tank," he says. "It went into the show home so it crept up the south side of the show home and went up over top and went inside as well. Lots of water damage to the show home itself and quite a bit of fire damage too."

No one was in the buildings at the time of the fire and no injuries have been reported.

Thevenot says they managed to keep the fire back from a house that did have people in it.

"From my perspective it's a good save. We saved the home where the residents were and we didn't let it go that far so it was a good save, good job by the fire fighters."

Two fire trucks from Okotoks and one from Heritage Pointe responded to the call with about 15 fire fighters.

There is no word yet on what caused the fire.
