Foothills Composite High School and the Alberta High School of Fine Arts are taking a trip back in time to the '50s for their latest production.

Dress rehearsals are well underway for their triple threat performance of Grease.

Jasmine White, who plays the role of Sandy in the production, says the cast has dedicated a significant amount of time to learning their lines.

"In the beginning when we were given the script and after the auditions and we got all of our roles, I spent at least half an hour a day learning lines. We had an 80 minute class every single day so that kind of helps build up but when you get closer then you start having a couple hour rehearsals after school, and we're starting to work Saturdays and some Sundays."

Matthew Ellis, Vocal Director at FCHS/ AHSFA, says students are are taking the lead off the stage as well.

"The big thing is having kids completely take over, so kids are running tech, kids are doing front of house, kids are doing lights and sound, everything."

White adds the new theatre from the school's recent modernization has been a welcomed upgrade.

"The old one that we had was kind of attached to the cafeteria so it was still a nice stage but we didn't quite have our own theatre space where seating wise everything would have to be closed down in the caf," she explains. "So having this new upgraded space is great where we have all of the seating in there, tech booths, and backstage stuff."

The Comp will transform into Rydell High on Dec. 13 and 14 with performances at 7 p.m., and Dec. 15 with shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and can be purchased by clicking here.
