Exciting changes lie ahead for Foothills Composite High School.

Aside from the 22 million dollar modernization for the school, parents have brought forth the idea to fund raise for a new gymnasium.

A group of parents noticed the need for a new gym with the constant flow of heavy traffic the school's current facilities see and feel they've reached their capacity for use, so they've decided they'll try to raise the estimated 5 million dollars to construct a new gym.

Vince Hunter, principal at FCHS, says they'll try not to compromise other spaces on school grounds for the project.

"We're still talking over where our gym currently is and just adding on to what we have, kind of towards that parking lot for people that aren't familiar with where our gym is, but right now that's sort of the spot we're looking at that seems to make the most sense, but with that obviously comes lots of other obstacles we need to consider," he says. "Probably the most obvious is parking for our students as well."

According to Hunter if this dream comes true realistically it would happen after the modernization is complete.

Hunter says the community's had a positive response to the idea of the future project.

"I just think it's fantastic that our communities look to invest and give back to this school and I think we see it as a great opportunity to continue to be a hub of this community," he says. "I think from Foothills School Division's eyes we're just really thankful to have such great parents who are so willing to work on our behalf and for our kids to provide them with a great facility to learn in."
