Incumbent Bill Robertson has officially been re-elected as Mayor of Okotoks.

He will now serve a third term as Mayor, after holding the position for the past seven years.

Robertson says he's elated his hard work campaigning paid off.

"It feels absolutely awesome, certainly worked very hard for this. My brochure went to 7784 homes, hand delivered. I knocked on at least 2000 doors personally and spoke to probably 1200 people at the door, and it was phenomenal. I'm very pleased with the results, kudos to my opponent who ran a very great campaign. I think the town is better for all the discussion that has happened and certainly we have a lot of ideas moving forward."

He shares there are some major priorities for him in the coming term, including a demand for a secure water source for Okotoks.

"The water pipeline, I will be on the phone in the morning with Municipal Affairs, and certainly when we get the new council together we'll be formulating a plan for what everybody feels we can do to move this project forward. We do have a major meeting planned at the AUMA Conference in November, the City of Calgary, and Town of Okotoks will be meeting with three departments: Environment, Municipal Affairs and Transportation to pound our case regarding our absolutely essential water pipeline needed to make life better in this town."

Robertson adds although not every resident supported him during the 2017 Civic Election, he will still do his best to represent all citizens of Okotoks.

"A huge thanks to everybody who placed their confidence in me, it's much appreciated. To all those people who did not support me that's fine, I will still represent your concerns. Please anybody who has any concerns over the next four years on any town manner, I would hope that you would approach me. I will do my best to resolve your issue, or help you resolve the issue together. I am the Mayor for all citizens of Okotoks, not just those that supported me."

He says he's very excited to serve Okotoks for another term.

"Okotoks is just an awesome place to live, to raise a family, and to retire. It is fantastic being here and it's a real humbling honour to be elected as the Mayor for another term."

Robertson by-passed his competitor Carrie Fischer by just 585 votes.
