The Town of Okotoks Downtown Urban Design Project has started replacing trees on Elizabeth Street.

There were about 40 black ash trees on the boulevard that were identified as dead or dying and as a result, were removed.

The tree species were deemed susceptible to cottony psyllid disease and unsuitable to the area, so they require replacement.

The replacements will take place starting today from the north side of Elizabeth Street and Friday on the south side of the street.

The remaining trees will be replaced on Tuesday, June 26th, which will effect both north and south sides of the street. Any work not completed on the 26th will finish up on Wednesday, the 27th.

As planting occurs, parking stalls will be opened as the procedure moves down the street.

The Town of Okotoks thanks you for your patience and cooperation as they move through the project.
