This Saturday, June 24, Downtown Okotoks will be alive with performers at the fifth annual BuskersFest.

The event was created to showcase some of Okotoks' and the Foothills' local talent, Mark Doherty, Community Events Coordinator says the event has grown into a massive celebration of performance.

"We have everything from musician coming out, street performers, jugglers, magicians, dancing groups, it's just a variety of performers, and it just animates the street incredibly. To hear such a variety of music and see so much entertainment it's a place you want to be for sure."

Doherty shares some of the performer's at previous BuskersFests have gone on to do great things, he adds the weekend it a great way to catch a sneak peek at some up and coming stars.

"We've been blessed, and graced with some very great performers over the past five years. For example young Sam Smith was 13 in her first Buskersfest, and she's moved on and had a chance for 'The Voice' last year. There's a variety of individuals that have moved on with music careers that have blessed our streets with performances."

Doherty encourages residents to come out from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., take in the entertainment, and bring some change to feed the performers cases.

Registration for performers will take place the morning of the event.
