An ongoing investigation into the disappearance of a Calgary mother and her daughter is now being treated as a possible double homicide.

25 year old Jasmine Lovett and her 22 month old daughter Aliyah Sanderson were last seen in Cranston on the evening of April 16th, 2019.

Their disappearance was made apparent after they did not show up to a planned family dinner.

Lovett's financial information was used to place an online order two days later, and data from an electronic device pointed police to the Bragg Creek area, but the lack of any other signs of life from Jasmine or Aliyah has led Calgary Police Services to turn the case over to their homicide team.

In a press conference held yesterday, Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta confirmed police have taken a suspect into custody, confirming that Lovett and the suspect are/were known to each other.

Schiavetta also confirmed that the suspect is not Aliyah's biological father, who is not a suspect at this time and has been cooperative with police.

Investigators are currently searching a residence in Cranston and the area of Bragg Creek for the pair, and are asking property owners in both areas to report any suspicious activity relating to the case.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
