This past weekend marked the final performance of the Dewdney Players production of Arsenic and Old Lace.

The black comedy, directed by Brad Snowden, was featured at the RPAC throughout November and celebrated a sold-out performance last week.

Arsenic and Old Lace producer Ed Sands says the amount of audience laughter affected the run time of the production some nights.

"We would run several minutes long because we would have to pause for laughter and the show ended up running longer some nights," Sands says. "And it was just a marvelous three weekends."

He points out that everything from the casting to the set design came together to contribute to the success of the show.

"We wanted the little old ladies to be sinister, but in an innocent, dotty sort of way and Deb (Sands) and Nicola (Payton) rose to that task," he says. "I think everybody was just very well cast in it. Our Mortimer and our Elaine, Dave Elder and Dayna Coles, were just magnificent in their roles."

Next up, the Dewdney Players will be preparing their annual One Act Plays, followed by a production of Lion in Winter, also directed by Brad Snowden, and scheduled to open in May.
