The Dewdney Players are no stranger to giving back to the community, and have continued to make another significant donation to two local charities.

Recently, the Players have delivered a $500 cheque to both STARS Air Ambulance and our Local Search and Rescue Crew, with proceeds from their performance of Lafferty's Wake.

President of Dewdney Players - Ed Sands says it's an important part of who they are as a local theatre company.

"I think it's extremely important. We call ourselves a community theatre group and we're here for the community." says Sands "We are a non profit society and if the community gives to us with ticket sales, then we're going to give back to the community."

This isn't the first time the Players have committed to helping the community.

Sands shares that they make a charitable donation for every production, usually dedicating one showing's proceeds to a local cause.

"In Calendar Girls the main charity was the Foothills Hospice, for it's a wonderful life we donated to the local legion.  We make a donation for every performance we do."

Sands says the director of the Dewdney Players current production of Snow White may be donating proceeds from this show to the Foothills AIM Society.

If you want to give back through theatre, the easiest way is to attend one of the plays.

Tickets are purchased at the show by donation.
