The Dewdney Players Theatre Group are bringing the audience back to the 1930's with their latest production.

The performance brings H.G. Wells' War of the Worlds, The Panic Broadcast to life as an on stage version of the radio broadcast.

Matt Seders, producer of the show, says when the broadcast first took place, people mistook it for aliens actually coming to earth.

"The original broadcast was on October 30 and it was Orson Wells' Halloween prank. People legitimately thought martians were invading, and taking over the world, and everybody was going to die."

Seders says they've paid close attention to details.

"We made microphones that are authentic to the time period but we also have a Foley artist on stage who recreates live sound effects."

Show dates are Oct. 5, 6, 11- 13, and 18- 20 at the Rotary Performing Arts Centre. Doors open at 7 p.m. with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased in advance online with a special pricing of $20 for adults and $15 for students and seniors. To purchase tickets online click here.

They can also be purchased at the door for $25 for adults and $20 for seniors and students.
