The Canada Revenue Agency has made some changes for the 2018 the tax return process.

According to a release from the Government of Canada, over 950,000 citizens with low or fixed incomes that are unchanged year-to-year will be able to file their income tax return by answering a series of questions over the phone.

Those eligible citizens will not have to fill out a form or make any calculations, however they will still have access to information on what credits and benefits they can receive.

Canadians chosen to use the new File my Return system will receive an invitation to the service starting mid-February.

Another slight tweak from the CRA: Those who have filed returns by mail in past year will now receive a tax package in the post in 2018.

Previously every citizen had to pick up the tax forms from a Post Office or Service Canada site.

Those who want to file on paper and haven't received a tax package from the CRA by Feb. 26 can order them at online or call 1-855-330-3305.

The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue, says the changes were made as doing taxes can sometimes be a challenge.

"This is especially the case for people with reduced mobility, people who live far from service locations and people without Internet access. The CRA is working to make it easier and simpler to find, complete and file a return."
