It was a busy day for Okotoks Town Council on Monday as they met for the first time in nearly a month.

There was plenty on the agenda for the first and only meeting in July, including discussions of a budget amendment to initiate a municipal heritage designation program.

Council also reviewed requests from administration as they are seeking new direction from members on the On-It south transit service as a result of the Calgary Regional Partnership's decision to remove underutilized local service routes.

Members also heard from John Carmichael of the Diamond Willow Hiking Group on concerns with clear cut logging occurring in the Highwood Junction area west of Longview.

Okotoks Online will have full council updates throughout the week.

The next Okotoks Town Council meeting is scheduled for Aug. 21.
