It looks like Okotokians will have to find a new place for their breakfast needs.

After closing their doors to the public back in February 2015 the Cora Breakfast and Lunch restaurant is once again out of business.

Okotoks resident and frequent Cora goer, Tom Barker says he was hopeful with new management coming in after the first incident and is very surprised with the announcement.

"I am surprised, I really am. I loved going there and I know they had a couple issues in the past but I thought they were all rectified and I was very excited that they were keeping open...I'm just very surprised because I mean every time I was there it was a wait to get in and you were waiting 10 to 15 minutes to get a table because it was just stacked full."

The franchise has informed the public that with a mix of the economic downturn and high fixed costs the new management decided not to continue operating at a loss.

Bailey Tymchuk, another Okotoks resident says she was sad to see the closed sign in the window.

"I mean I didn't eat at Cora's a lot but it's still sad to hear it closed down. Every time I was there it seemed to be really busy, but ya it won't effect me too much but still sad to hear about it."

Barker says he hopes to see a new breakfast hot spot in the town's future.

"I'm hoping, I'm so hoping there will be a new Cora's in town or at least something like it. Like a really cool breakfast place our elderly folk can go to and something 20's and 30 year olds can go to because their food was delicious."

The chain restaurant is looking for a new franchisee who is interested in operating a new Cora Breakfast and Lunch in the Okotoks region but says it's highly unlikely that it will be in the previous location.
