It's the most wonderful time of year for many students as they celebrate their hard work and perseverance.

Staff at St. Lukes Outreach

St. Lukes Outreach in Okotoks celebrated the graduation of 54 of their grade 12 students yesterday.

Principal Leslie Woehleke says she couldn't be more proud of her students accomplishments.

"I'm so proud of our students, we have 54 grads and 36 of them are participating in the ceremonies. They're from Okotoks, Brooks, Drumheller and High River."

Vice President of the school Dylan Sinclair says St. Lukes isn't a huge school, but that allows them to get to know their students better.

Sinclair shares that many of their student's have overcome many challenges to get to where they are today and they should be pleased with themselves as well.

"Our kids sometimes aren't as successful in traditional schools, so they come to us where they are welcomed and loved. We provide a safe and caring environment and we are bursting with pride"

Celebrations got underway on May 25th, with the graduation ceremony being held at the St. James Church in Okotoks.

Principal Woehleke says she hopes her students enjoyed the afternoon, and take the time to celebrate with their family and friends.

"They work hard and persevere over lots of challenges, sometimes learning difficulties and sometimes life challenges." Woehleke shares "They're very proud of themselves and it's a great day to celebrate with their families, with their supporters and even with their teachers."

There is also other schools celebrating student achievement this weekend.

The Centre for Learning @ home has nearly 3000 grads across the province that will be celebrating this weekend, and the Foothills Composite High School Graduating Class of 2017 walks the stage this afternoon.
