The Foothills School Division, like all school jurisdictions across Alberta, is looking toward the time when classes resume in the Fall.

Alberta Education says it's looking at three scenarios, one where students return to classrooms, one where all teaching goes online and another that blends the two.

FSD Assistant Superintendent Drew Chipman says they have a committee of division staff, teachers and parents working on it.

"We've spent the better part of ten days beginning that process and we're going to be providing information out to parents and we're going to be trying to make sure the decisions we make are appropriate for Foothills School Division, appropriate for our staff and our students, safety is obviously a primary concern," he says.

Chipman says they'll be getting most of their direction from Alberta Health Services and Alberta Education, but they want parents to know they're doing their best to make sure they get it right.

"Opening the schools as we've always opened them, we can do that pretty quickly, we were able to move to a totally online piece really within a week, so if that's the direction that we're back to in the fall we believe that our teachers and staff can make that work as well, so we're going to put our minds to the blended piece because I think that's where most of the concern is, what will it look like, kids back in school, if there has to be restrictions on social distancing and all those types of things."

He says safety of everyone involved is their top priority.
