A local initiative wants to make sure girls who are graduating high school this year feel like royalty.

The Cinderella Project supplies dresses, shoes, and accessories as well as hair and nail services to those who may be struggling financially for their graduation day living in Okotoks, Black Diamond, and High River.

Meghan Harvey, organizer for the Cinderella Project, says she's hoping to see more sponsors and donations this year.

"Last year we had about 38 sponsors from the community and $5,000 worth of donations, so we're looking this year to make it even bigger and better than last year because we know people know about us now. We're hoping the word will get out there and we can help more girls and just make them feel extra special."

She adds she's hoping to see businesses like florists and nail salons donate their services as well as donations of grad dresses, shoes, and accessories.

Harvey says on Apr. 6 girls will be able to pick out a dress at the Foothills Centennial Centre.

"We'll be accepting registration through email or on our web site and we'll give the girls an appointment to come and they can have a private shopping appointment, they won't see anyone else, they'll just be able to choose their dresses by themselves and they can bring along their parents if they want to."

Those with donations can drop them off at the Foothills Centennial Centre every Sunday morning until 1 p.m.
