Christ The Redeemer School Division received top marks according to exam and survey results from Alberta Education.

The division outperformed the provincial average on 15 of 16 measures of achievement and satisfaction, and equalled it on one of those measures. It also earned the highest rating on 12 of 15 measures of achievement, indicating performance in the top 5% of the province.

Scott Morrison, Superintendent of CTR, says the division scores well on exams and surveys every year, but this year they upped their game.

"The one thing that probably stands out is that often we get the very highest rating on two of the four exam measures and this year we got the very high rating on three of the four so that's quite an accomplishment," he explains. "Sounds like it's not a big deal but it's basically how many kids are passing and how many kids are getting to levels of excellence and the numbers are just extremely high."

Morrison says the area he'd like to see improvement on is the amount of students that go to post secondary.

"I think our rate was exactly the same as the province and that's not normal for us, usually we're quite a bit higher, so we're really taking a good look at our career and post secondary counselling and making sure the kids explore different options for after high school because we know they're academically prepared to get in anywhere, the questions is why are they not choosing that, so that's one of the things we're exploring a little deeper into."

Morrison adds he attributes the division's success to their staff's passion, faith, and hard work.
