Those who really wanted to participate in Studio Me's Scavenger Scurry, now have another chance as the community based event is postponed until Sept. 30th.

Chief Energy Officer, and Studio Me Founder, Jody Swift says she wanted as many people as she could to participate, and realized that perhaps the timing of the Labour Day long weekend, wasn't the best.

"We had a lot of interest from people who really wanted to be involved, but on the Labour Day long weekend, there's a lot of people gone. Everyone kept saying 'If it was just another time' and after hearing that about 8 times we thought, 'You know, maybe that's a bit of a message!'"

The postponement of the Scurry also gives a unique opportunity to local businesses to support the community, and now Swift is challenges all the businesses in town to enter a team.

"This gives us a little bit more opportunity to gather more teams. We've also decided to approach businesses and ask them to put teams in." Swift says this will create reciprocity in our town. "It's the businesses in town, that the people support,  so now, we've got this opportunity for them with the Scurry to be able to contribute and give back to the town."

Swift says the idea behind this scavenger hunt of sorts, is to create a circle of giving in the community.

She plans on doing that by giving each team a challenge, but that challenge will be a task or chore for a neighbour in need, or a not for profit organization like the Okotoks Food Bank, or the Foothills County Hospice.

Swift says once the team is complete one task, they will move onto another and she shares an example of what participants can expect.

"There will be about 12 challenges in total, where teams will come up against an opportunity to do something for the community.  An example of that, will be one team needs to fill one of the Food Bank bins, as a team but they may not purchase food for it."

Now that the Scurry is postponed, more people can register, and more challenges can be awarded.
