A night of live music and dancing is set to celebrate the life of an Okotoks woman and support the Rowan House.

The Fifth Annual We Love Ami Jane FunRaiser will be taking place at the George Traditional House with 100% of the proceeds raised going to the emergency shelter.

Ami Jane tragically passed away five years ago and each year the event is held close to her birthday.

Debbie Sands, Ami's mother, says they wanted to take a different spin on remembering her daughter's life.

"She had a mental illness, borderline personality disorder. She was in the drug and gang lifestyle and we wanted to do something to celebrate her life rather than a sad memorial," she explains. "It was my other daughter Stephanie and a friend of hers who came up with the idea. Music and dancing, because that's what Ami loved, and raising money for a good cause."

Live music will be provided by Remembering Days, Joey J, Sheep River Bandits, One West, the Foothills Philharmonic Jazz Choir, Last Call, and have DJs digaBoo and Twotimer.

A silent auction will also be held with paintings from local artists, gift certificates, clothing, and more.

Sands says supporting the Rowan House was an easy choice.

"She was very strongly in support of women's shelters so we picked Rowan House as the charity and they've been really supportive and happy to receive the money."

The We Love Ami Jane FunRaiser will take place Nov. 4 at the George Traditional House.

Doors open at 5 p.m. with music starting at 6 p.m. and the event running until 2 a.m.

Tickets can be purchased in advance for $15 or will be $20 dollars at the door.
